In May, CreativeMornings Istanbul will take place physically at ATÖLYE. At this month’s event, we are hosting philosopher, content producer and the content manager of @anda.misin account, Ediz Akatlar with the theme of “Now”. At the event, Ediz will talk about how the theme resonates with his personal and professional journey.
09:00-09:30: Welcoming and Breakfast
10:00-10.30: Q&A and Networking
*This event will be held in Turkish.
About the Speaker:
Ediz graduated from Philosophy from Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University and has a Masters degree in Logic and Theory of Science from Eötvös Lorand University in Hungary. While he was working on his PhD in the same program, he created and hosted the endlessly talked about podcast, Bence Abartılıyor (I Think It’s Overrated), about concepts, cultures, perceptions and more. After all that, he realised philosophy was overrated, and returned to Istanbul.
He revised his continuing career in academia ‘just a tad’ and pivoted to being a copywriter in the advertising industry. He worked in many different agencies and currently works as the Head of Creative in Wiseslang, who is also the creator agency of the Instagram account @anda.misin.
May’s Theme is Now.
These days, the “nows” hurry past us, shoved aside by the “next” — the urgent to-do’s, the latest breaking news. Constantly anticipating and staging for our future decimates our experience of the present. Our “now” vanishes, like water flowing through our fingertips.
We cannot keep time from spilling out of our hands and into the soft earth below. It is not our task to master the present, but to savor it. To pause. Go still. Feel the air on the back of our necks, sit in both discomfort and pleasure, and marvel in the radiance of the present moment. So that we may, in the poet William Blake’s words, “Hold Infinity in the palm of your hand / And Eternity in an hour.” For all we ever have is now.
Our Buffalo chapter chose this month’s exploration of Now, Mizin Shin illustrated the theme, and our global partner Mailchimp is presenting the theme.
